June 17, 2026 - The Beginning
This is my inaugural post on this blog. I have given up on trying to break into the commercial writing market as I'm not comfortable with what I have to do to be successful there. Instead I have decided to move off the commercial internet and take up residence here on the small internet. I'm starting with this blog today. I don't have a lot of time to make this post shiny and well-crafted as I just want to get started with my first post. Besides, I'm skeptical there will be anyone reading this anyway. This blog is a place where I will share my personal thoughts on trying to stay human in the Age of the Machine. I'll also share progress on projects I'm working on, books I'm reading, and my life working as a nurse in a small city in Canada. I'm happy to have left the commercial internet. It's a relief to write this without the need to figure out how to sell it or gain by it somehow. Thanks to the creators of Bear blog and to all the creators and maintainers of the small, decentralized web for making a space for us creative refugees to escape to. My hope is to post here 4 to 5 days a week. This is a personal writing goal and sometimes these posts will not be good. I will post them anyway because I still think humans sharing thoughts with each other on the internet is a worthwhile goal. I don't know where this will end up, if I will continue with it or not, but I'm giving it a try.
